The following is a message from The Manor Hair Salon:
Fellow Mount Pleasant Villagers,
We are writing to share with you an exciting community event and fundraising opportunity to be held on May 5, 2019. We hope that you can find it in your heart (and marketing budget) to support a worthy charity via a donation of goods or services.
The event in brief:
- Amber Fairlie and the team at The Manor Salon will be hosting a ‘cut-a-thon’ fundraiser on May 5, 2019 in support of Autism Service Dogs (ADS), a registered charity that has benefited multiple local families.
- On May 5, clients (many living locally) will be coming to the Manor for services. But rather than paying the salon, patrons will be making donations to Autism Dog Services and purchasing premium prize draw tickets in the hopes of winning a range of products and services sourced from Mt Pleasant Village.
How you can help: We need your help to pull this event off and meet our $6,000 fundraising target.
- Donate goods or services from your business to be used in the premium prize draw (please contact Robyn Way or Amber Fairlie (contact details can be found below). OR,
- Make a tax-receipt eligible donation: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/pages/the-manor-salon-cut-a-thon-in-support-of-autism-do/
How did The Manor get involved with Autism Service Dogs?
In November 2018, local resident and manor client Robyn Way hosted the first annual Courts & Cocktails wooden racquets tournament. The Manor participated as a sponsor in an effort that raised $52,450 for ADS and two other autism charities. The event will be repeated on November 1, 2019 at the Toronto Lawn and the organizers are targeting an even larger $75,000 fundraising total. The Manor is organizing this event to help the organizers get a head start in meeting this new and ambitious goal.
What is Autism Service Dogs (ADS) all about?
ADS fosters the integration of children with autism by training, placing and supporting dogs that offer safety, companionship and independence. Founded in 2007, ADS is accredited with Assistance Dogs International and is also a member of the Canadian Association of Guide and Assistance Dog Schools.
